Hi everyone,
I am back after a long taxing gap. It would be an understatement if I say that I was busy. I was busy with work (pure work, for a change). We in East Africa, atleast the officegoers or the marketing guys have for 3-4 hours daily (most instances, I have given you the biggest secret of African work culture), but then there are times when you are caught up into something and that keeps on going on for the whole day and even spills over into the next day and goes on like that.
Anyways, today is Saturday and just the other saturday I had a chance to sit for the Hanuman Challisa recital here in the SDM temple. It was a very peaceful experience. The one hour I sat through was some experience which should not be missed out on (something which I have missed out for the past two-three weeks, thats due to sheer laziness).
Movies, I had been wanting to pen this like for ages, I had this written in my little diary and today got the chance to jot it down here. Good films are no slaves to the barriers of language or passage of time. I came to know about it recently. I dont understand much of Telugu, except for a few words that go common with my own mother tongue of Malayalam and the ones that I learnt thorough the past two months. Last couple of weeks i had this opportunity to watch some Telugu movies namely Sagarasangamam, Sankarabharanam and Anand, which substantially proved my points regarding the barriers of language and time. This were some realistically enchanting movies. I wrote abt Anand sometime back but Sagarasangamam was the best of the lot with vintage Kamal Hassan, Jaya Prada and Illayaraja at their very best. This movie made even before my birth has been quite a beauty in its own sense. Its to be seen to know that. If you are a classical dance fan and have any interest in any form of dance, then you should watch it, preferably with subtitles to make it more effective.
Anyways thats all from me for now. I will pen down another entry later in the day to make up for the matters of the weeks gone by and more on Uganda as a whole.
cheers
santosh
